Greetings, Loyal Reader!
MILD SPOILER ALERT!
As I’ve explained previously, I hate spoilers. But some people like sneak previews of upcoming works–like, say Jason Cosmo: Hero Wanted, coming from Trove Books in August 2009–so today I present a micro-preview in the form of the first sentences of the first ten chapters of Hero Wanted: ((Subject to change in editing, of course.))
- The arrival of the stranger was quite a shock.
- In Darnk, the summers were unbearably hot and the winters were unreasonably cold.
- We thundered down the dark forest road, only slowing our pace when we were sure that there was no pursuit.
- The fog swirled thick about the little shack, blotting out the amber lantern.
- Mercury, unaffected by the tear gas, shook off the ropes binding his arms.
- “Natalia, be reasonable,” said Merc.
- True to Mercury’s prediction, it rained the next day.
- Down through the rolling hills of the Brythalian lake country we rode, along roads that were little more than dirt tracks.
- Thinking fast, I thrust my sword into the mud and hefted a dead wolf by its hind legs.
- We dove from our saddles.
There you have it — Mystery! Action! Weather! Suspense! In only ten sentences!
Stay tuned for many more sentences, and even entire paragraphs!
Best regards,
